Whilst at Kantar TNS Duncan remained involved in travel and tourism, working with clients including UK and overseas NTOs and some of the best known brands in the sector including TUI, Center Parcs and Travelodge.  He also widened his experience beyond tourism, working with businesses in the energy sector (including SSE, Scottish Power and Ovo) and supporting a diverse range of Scottish business (from Historic Scotland to Scotrail to AG Barr to Sainsburys’s Bank and Edrington!).

Duncan is also proud to have developed an expertise working on studies which measure how the population engages with nature. He led the development of the major outdoor recreation monitors undertaken for Natural England, SNH and Natural Resources Wales and has managed many other quantitative and qualitative studies working with clients such as Forestry Commission, Canal and River Trust and Woodland Trust.

Working with this wide range of clients, Duncan has developed expertise in a number of key areas including the measurement of population behaviours and attitudes, customer experience and evaluating brand and communications.  With this experience Duncan can help clients to identify the research methods that meet their needs (and budgets!), to deliver insights that enlighten and provide a clear path ahead.

Duncan is very experienced speaking on public platforms, regularly taking the stage at conferences, seminars and other business events including:

  • Scotland Food and Drink 2018 annual conference – presenting results to the industry regarding the Scottish out of home dining market and impacts of Scottish provenance.

  • Valuing Nature 2018 conference – presenting results from work conducted for Defra,  showing how social media can be used to understand engagement with nature.
