The Global Agritourism Network was officially formed in 2024, and the inaugural Global Agritourism Conference is being held in Scotland in June 2026 - a showcase of the diversity and growth of the global agritourism sector with data, research, policy and personal stories providing a unique international learning opportunity for around 600 delegates.
To coincide with the conference, 56 Degree Insight conducted a landmark survey exploring awareness, understanding and interest in agritourism among the Scottish public.
Based on an online survey of 1,004 adults, representative of the Scottish population, this research provides the first robust national baseline of Scots’ views on agritourism — a growing and increasingly important part of Scotland’s visitor economy. Undertaken in late April, the survey examines current levels of awareness and knowledge of agritourism, alongside the extent to which Scots are interested in holidays and short breaks with an agritourism theme.
The research goes beyond simple awareness, exploring what people find most appealing about agritourism, the barriers that may prevent them from taking this type of break, and the triggers that could encourage future consideration. It also measures interest in agritourism trips across Scotland, other parts of the UK and overseas, providing valuable insight into the potential scale and nature of demand.
